  click   I'm 34 and I live with my partner Rachel and my daughter Isabelle.  I've been teaching English for 7 years.  Before I came to Birmingham I had taught in Japan, Spain, Saudi Arabia and London; but of course the best place to teach is at South Birmingham College because the students and staff are so friendly.
 

Karima Kadi-Hanifi

click   My name is Karima Kadi-Hanifi and I have been teaching adults for nearly 18 years.  I have a background in Linguistics (the science of language) and lots of experience of teaching English as a second language.  I love seeing adults learn and feeling that I am making a small contribution to their achievement.  I also learn a lot from my students and always value their contribution too.  I speak English as a second language myself (or third really, after Arabic and French!) and am, therefore, very sensitive to the needs of ESOL students.

  click   The first ESOL tutor that was appointed at Hall Green Centre in October 2000. ESOL has been very popular and in demand at Hall Green Centre. First started teaching English in a primary school in Mexico in 1986. Have taught French, Spanish, Urdu & ESOL  at Primary & Secondary school level in the UK, worked in most Birmingham ,Coventry & Warwickshire Colleges & Adult Education Service from 1994 onwards. A multi lingual who speaks 7 languages fluently. Have been to 30 countries worldwide. Have studied at Sorbonne University & American University of Paris. Have 2 beautiful teenage children Omar 19 & Amelia 14. Absolutely love teaching and all the ESOL students at SBC!

I've just graduated from Birmingham University with a degree in Social Policy and I'm now doing a PGCE at Wolverhampton University, specialising in ESOL.   For the past two years I've been volunteering at George Dixon International School, supporting children who have English as an additional language.  This summer I completed the CELTA course and I hope to go on to become a full-time teacher of ESOL.

Bob was born in 1957. He spent many years working with computers before deciding in 1999 to give up his job and travel around the world. Since then he has visited about fifty different countries. While travelling in China he decided that he did not want to go back to working with computers. Instead he wanted to teach English so when he came back he took a CELTA course.
Since then he has alternated between working in Harrow in the Summer teaching children and working at SBC for the rest ofthe year teaching ESOL to adult students.
In twenty three years of working life he has never enjoyed his job as much as he does right now.

I was born in January 1970 and I am married.  My wife is from Paraguay, South America, and she is expecting our first baby in May 2004.  I have been teaching English for over 10 years in Spain, Paraguay, Wales, England and Poland.  I am currently the Assistant Director for ESOL at Hall Green and I love working here because the students and teachers are so great!
